With Doctrin Network, other units can request to hand over patient cases to your unit. Ensure that you check the “New cases from another unit” section regularly.

How to respond to an invitation – by profession
  1. Go to the Overview for your unit.
  2. Find the list “New cases from another unit”.
  3. This list gathers all requested handovers from other units. The current unit requesting the handover is shown in in paranthesis after the owner’s name.
  4. Click the list heading to unfold it.
  5. Select a case that you want to consult in.
  6. A pop-up message appears with three options:
    • Accept the Handover – and become a consultant in the case. You are redirected to the case view, and you are now a consultant in the case. The patient will be notified in the chat.
    • Decline the Handover. You will be asked if you want to add a comment. The patient will be able to see the comment in the chat. If you choose to decline an invitation by profession neither you or your colleagues can access the case again.
    • Cancel and leave the case for someone else to manage or open it another time.

Respond to personal invitation – by name

    • Cancel and leave the case – for another time.
It is not advisable to Cancel a request and leave it for a later time. It is better to accept or decline to minimize unnecessary waiting time for the owner and patient.

When a Handover is declined by a unit, the case is handled in the same way as when a patient is not ready to close a case. If the owner of the case does not handle it within a set time period (normally 15 minutes), the case is displayed in the list “Cases needing new owner”.

The case will be visible to the professions that was assigned to the case from the beginning.

The reason for this is to minimize the risk that a case is left unhandled.
