Introduction to appointments

Appointments is a way to plan video consultations between patients and healthcare professionals. It is possible to schedule groups of patients as well as any number of healthcare staff. For healthcare staff working in an administrative role scheduling appointments on behalf of colleagues, it is possible to exclude oneself from the appointment.

A few common use cases are:
* A clinician in primary care schedules their own patient for a video consultation
* A medical secretary schedules a follow-up with a GP or nurse following triage of a referral
* An administrative coordinator schedules a patient with a GP for a follow-up review after knee surgery
* A nurse arranges group appointments for patients undergoing treatment for work-related stress or burnout

People who can participate:

* All clinicians within a unit (if a colleague is off sick, another clinician not originally added to the appointment can join as a substitute)
* Patients who have received the appointment and verified their identity (authentication options are configurable per market)

All participants must be authenticated using a secure login method (e.g. electronic ID for patients, or staff-specific authentication for healthcare professionals)
